On an early‑summer day, two men play squash, a lifeguard watches an indoor pool, a clerk shelves books, a puppet‑show performer entertains children, and an older woman cooks. Manon rides her bicycle to a rendez‑vous with her boyfriend, turns a corner and is struck. She lies on the asphalt as a crowd gathers and an ambulance arrives. Her confused voice narrates, recalling recent moments, expressing small regrets, and telling how her friends and mother will be informed and will gather to talk.
