Wilson Wong Sr. Richard Yap and Debbie Jean Garcia celebrate their wedding anniversary, but the night is upended by their son Wilson Wong Jr. [Enchong Dee], a troubled drug- and alcohol-addict. To help him, Wilson sends his son to a rehabilitation facility, where he falls in love with Jocelyn Jessy Mendiola, a fellow patient with her own bruised past. After graduation, Son and Jocelyn become engaged, but tragedy strikes when Jocelyn dies of an overdose while searching for Son at a bar.

Meanwhile, Debbie begins an affair at her jewelry shop with a customer named Marco, but she ends it later. An incensed Marco comes to the Wong residence and starts a disturbance, revealing the affair and driving a wedge between Wilson and Debbie. Their daughter Carol Janella Salvador begins music school, but a classmate rescues her from a maniac professor, prompting her to shift courses. Wilson also faces the return of his estranged homosexual brother Jason Eric Quizon and cares for their elderly mother Erlinda.

Throughout the film, Wilson reflects on his struggles growing up and how he has raised his family, trying to hold the family together amid mounting pressures. Shortly after Jocelyn's funeral, Son and Carol separately urge their father to reconcile with Debbie, and he chooses to open that door again. Wilson then allows Jason to reconnect with their mother and help care for her in her twilight years.

Years later, an elderly Wilson and Debbie look back on their life together, with Wilson finding himself at peace.
