Ex-CIA agent Anthony Lawrence is abducted from London and taken to Madame Sin's base in the Scottish Highlands. Sin unveils a 'Thought Factory' and demonstrates its radical brain-implant technology on her assistant Nikko. Nikko instantly proves the implant's power by playing a Mozart piece after insertion.

Sin persuades Lawrence that his partner Barbara has been sent to her death on orders of Connors. She shows secretly filmed footage of Barbara being tortured by Chinese agents, using it to coerce Lawrence into cooperating. The threat is framed as his personal betrayal.
