After a night of love in a woodcutter’s hut, Pietro is wrongfully arrested. His mother and sister Rosaria beg Orsola for an alibi, but Orsola’s brother Rocco silences her. Pietro escapes prison, is recaptured and killed, witnessed by Rosaria. Years later Rocco finds a frozen stranger, who is revealed to be the grown‑up Rosaria, returning to exact revenge on the family that caused her brother’s death.
