The film is structured in three chapters—‘Restlessness’, ‘Violence’ and ‘Death’—to trace the motives, development and downfall of three Barcelona misfits who turn to robbery. A bored boy and an unemployed worker are drawn in by “el Señorito”, the affluent lawyer’s son, forming a small gang. Stark and violent, the movie pursues social criticism and realistic detail, ending with a highly controversial final scene.
