Following the rise of one of early‑20th‑century China’s most powerful figures, the film shows Luk by the late 1920s ruling Shanghai as a political, business and underworld heavyweight. His lavish generosity begins to deplete his wealth, prompting him to reflect on his legacy and choose a patriotic path, embracing high society rather than excess.
