Lonesome Ghosts

Jasper, Boo, Moss and Grubb grow bored with haunting the Old McShiver mansion. Moss finds an ad for Ajax Ghost Exterminators and they decide to hire Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. Grubb impersonates a woman to call them, claiming the mansion is haunted.

Mickey, Donald, and Goofy arrive and knock on the front door. When they knock again, the door falls down, revealing no one inside. The door then lifts, throws them inside, and snaps shut in a faux mousetrap on Goofy's nose.

After the initial laughter, the trio realizes there is no one inside the mansion. The ghosts reveal themselves laughing, prompting Mickey to decide that he, Donald, and Goofy should split up to surround them. The three head in different directions, hoping to corner the pranksters.

Jasper knocks Mickey on the head and jams his shotgun barrels with his fingers, causing an explosion. Mickey reels from the blast as the ghosts giggle at the chaos. The exterminate crew presses on deeper into the mansion.

Mickey chases Jasper upstairs and tries to open a door that suddenly disappears and collapses. The ghosts emerge from a door in the form of a marching band and slip through another door, escalating the confusion. Mickey is left to chase while the house seems to morph around him.

Mickey opens a door and water pours out while Jasper, Boo, and Moss surf on surfboards and Grubb drives a motorboat around him, circling with the water. The spectacle sweeps Mickey into a watery trap that seems to swallow him and the ghostly crew. The water and illusions fade, leaving the trio to press on.

Grubb uses rattling dishes and creaking chains to scare Donald, then whacks him on the butt with a wooden board twice. Donald punches Grubb, sending him to the floor where he briefly becomes water and disappears. Grubb emerges from the floor and spits water toward Donald before vanishing again.

Moss bangs a wooden spoon on a pan and plays a trombone to frighten Goofy, driving him into a bedroom. Goofy spots Moss's reflection in a mirror and a classic gag unfolds, ending with Goofy tangled in the dresser. He pricks his own butt with a pin, thinking Moss is responsible.

The ghosts shove the dresser with Goofy inside down into the basement where Mickey and Donald are taking cover behind barrels and sacks of molasses, flour and syrup. The dresser crashes into them, coating the trio with sticky mess that makes them resemble ghosts. The sight scares the actual ghosts out of the mansion.

Thus, the trio's sticky disguise fools the real ghosts into fleeing, ending the haunting attempt. The ghosts depart, and the old mansion returns to quiet, at least for the moment. The Ajax Ghost Exterminators have inadvertently achieved their goal by scaring away the haunt.
