TV’s top comic has everything—except his sanity. Inspired by Neil Simon’s own stint as a junior writer on “Your Show of Shows,” the play follows Max Prince, a Sid Caesar/Jackie Gleason‑type star of a 1953 weekly comedy‑variety program, and his eclectic writing staff. Simon’s alter‑ego, Lucas Brickman, offers a witty running commentary on the endless drafting, petty fights and off‑the‑wall antics that explode in the chaotic writers’ room.
