Lake Dead

After their grandfather dies, Brielle, Kelli, and Sam learn he left them a motel. Their father John warns them not to go, hoping to protect them from the family legacy. Despite his pleas, the sisters embark on the trip with their friends.

Sam is the first to arrive at the motel and settles into Room 6, where two inbreds force their way in. They assault her with tape, an iron bar, and an axe, binding her legs and injuring her ankles. The brutality marks the opening of the deadly threat surrounding the house.

The attackers take Sam to a boat, tie her legs to a concrete block, and dump her into the lake. She remains alive long enough to drown as the block pulls her underwater.

The remaining friends reach the motel and are greeted by a seemingly kind older caretaker. She offers a warm welcome, masking the danger to come. The atmosphere feels off as they settle in.

The group discovers a lake on the property and goes for a swim. They are unaware that Sam's corpse floats beneath them in the water. The casual outing starkly contrasts with the horror that lurks beneath the surface.

Bill and Tanya go into the woods to fetch firewood and end up sharing a moment alone, which leads to sex. Amy is left chafed and anxious by the developing rift within the group.

After their moment, the friends are confronted by large, unkempt men who terrify them. Bill, Tanya, and Amy are butchered in the confrontation, while the others manage to escape into the shadows.

The surviving friends are picked up by a controlling, pushy police officer who coaxes them into returning to the motel. Once there, the eerie truth behind the disappearance of Sam and the grandfather's will begins to surface.

It becomes clear that the caretaker and the cop are part of an incestuous family scheme to continue a generations-old legacy. Brielle and Kelli are targeted as part of their twisted plans, while Sam's death is explained away by her being adopted.

The sisters learn that their father rejected the family tradition and escaped. The grandmother's plot to lure Brielle and Kelli home surfaces, explaining the inheritance as a trap to force impregnation and continue the line.

Ben fights off the two inbred men and moves to rescue Brielle, who has been taken to the barn by the cop. His effort marks a turning point as some of the protagonists gain a chance to break the cycle.

Ben shoots the grandmother, ending at least some of the family menace. The act signals a drastic shift in the power dynamics at the motel.

John, Brielle's and Kelli's father, arrives at the barn and kills his brother—the cop—saving his daughters and Ben. The line 'That's how you fuck family' underscores his defiance of the toxic legacy.

John takes Brielle, Kelli, and Ben to a hospital, giving them a chance at recovery. The family begins to heal, though the trauma lingers.

Four teenagers approach the now-abandoned motel, and one senses something off about entering. A surviving inbred watches from behind a tree and screams, hinting the threat may not be over.
