History

Between November 1793 and April 1794, Robespierre intensifies the Revolution’s grip, first ordering the execution of the Hébertists and then moving against Danton, leader of the Indulgents, and his ally Camille Desmoulins, who pleaded for mercy in his newspaper Le Vieux Cordelier. Though Robespierre emerges victorious, he finds himself isolated.
