Money God crashes into Hong Kong, causing a massive hole in the city and triggering widespread blackouts. Police and journalists arrive to investigate the celestial visitor, and a curious crowd forms around him. His out-of-place Hanfu attire marks him as otherworldly, drawing fear and fascination in equal measure.

Due to his odd appearance and strange behavior, he is mistaken for a mental patient and chased by the authorities. A water bottle he hides in is picked up by Ben, Ellen's nephew, setting the stage for the subsequent encounters.

Money God reveals himself to Ben at his home and befriends him by making his toys perform. He convinces the boy he is a deity, but Ben's father Fung believes he is a robber and confronts him.

Money God demonstrates his power to Fung by summoning a rain cloud and turning a cup into a ball of gold, exposing Fung's greed and curiosity about wealth. He explains that true wealth comes from within and offers to help Fung's business, claiming Fung will become rich in three months if he allows it.

Fung adopts Money God as his adopted father and gives him a makeover to blend in with the crowd. Through Money God's guidance, Fung becomes more considerate of his employees and customers, and his business begins to improve.

Fung is taken to meet loan shark Mo to settle his debt, and Mo threatens to remove his fingers and toes if payment isn't made within ten days. The pressure mounts as the deadline approaches and the stakes get higher.

Mo campaigns for office, and Money God takes the stage with a counter-speech that earns a standing ovation while Mo is booed off. The had-hands become a public moment where Money God's influence shifts public perception.

Mo and his henchmen attack Fung's apartment, throwing him off a balcony; Money God saves him from the fall. Later, Money God tricks Mo into acting like a buffoon at a bank, and Mo is cast into a mental asylum.

Mo hires three Ghost Exterminators who confront Money God and Fung's family at a toy fair. Money God fends them off by animating several military toys, turning the confrontation into a parade of living playthings.

Ben witnesses Ellen being abducted, triggering a high-speed highway chase across Hong Kong. Money God tries to use his powers to recover her, but the charm is missing because Ben mistook the pouch for a candy bag.

With the charm lost, Money God confronts Mo again and urges him to change his ways. Pretending to be Fung’s father spirit, he persuades Mo to use wealth for good, and Mo renounces Fung's debt, vowing to mend his ways. The group later celebrates the turn of events at Mo's headquarters.

NASA arrives in Hong Kong, misreading Money God's Hanfu as evidence of alien technology and deploying plasma guns to capture him. The forces close in as the rooftop escape unfolds, escalating the tension between celestial and human observers.

As Money God falls from the rooftop, his body lights up the characters 'Kung Hei Fat Choy' and he is transformed back into his deific form, powers fully restored. He converts the hostile plasma fire into gold coins that rain onto the streets, ending NASA's pursuit.

Money God is called back to Heaven, having fulfilled his mission of helping mankind. Years later, Fung is a successful restaurateur, Mo is mayor, and many from his former loan shark network have become police officers, signaling lasting positive change.
