While studying the culture and folklore of the Caucasus, journalist Shurik encounters Nina, a beautiful young woman desired by the wealthy and powerful Governor Saakhov. Saakhov intends to force Nina into marriage and uses the naive Shurik as part of his plan, kidnapping her with the help of his comical henchmen – the Coward, the Fool, and the Pro. Realizing he’s been manipulated and falling for Nina, Shurik embarks on a quest to rescue her and ensure a happy ending.
