After serving loyally in the Union army during the Civil War, a Black veteran returns home to discover his mother slain by a gang of white thugs. Fueled by grief and rage, he becomes a bounty hunter, obsessively tracking the murderers across the post‑war frontier. His relentless campaign confronts prejudice and danger at every turn, and he refuses to rest until each killer pays for his mother's death.
