Jack & Diane

Diane wanders the streets of New York trying to borrow a cellphone to call her sister. In a clothing store she meets Jack, a dark-haired girl who is clearly smitten with her. Diane's nose begins to bleed again, and Jack offers help.

Jack takes Diane to a nightclub where Diane feels nauseous and bleeds again. She goes to the restroom and nearly passes out. Later they kiss on a couch in the nightclub lounge.

The next morning Jack is struck by a car, jolting both girls and intensifying the emotional strain between them. Diane returns to her apartment and faces Aunt Linda's stern reprimand. The incident marks a turning point as their worlds start to unravel.

Back at Diane's apartment, Aunt Linda scolds her and grounds her for her behavior. Diane asserts that she isn't her mother, and both feel misunderstood by their families.
