Daisy Magnolia, Sumire Morohoshi, the granddaughter of Anne Magnolia, stumbles upon a trove of birthday letters that Violet Evergarden, Yui Ishikawa, once wrote for her customers. This discovery opens a window into the legend of Violet, a woman celebrated for turning intimate thoughts into beautifully crafted letters that carry the weight of memory and care. The story recalls a time more than half a century earlier when Violet received a poignant request from a terminally ill boy named Yuris to write letters for his family, a moment that would set in motion a chain of emotional journeys and revelations.

Claudia Hodgins, Takehito Koyasu, stumbles upon a mail with a vague address, its handwriting unmistakably from Gilbert Bougainvillea, whom they believed to be dead. Driven by a need to uncover the truth, he travels to the remote island of Ekarte and resolves to bring Violet with him. On that windswept island, Gilbert Bougainvillea, Daisuke Namikawa, is alive but bears the price of his past—losing his right eye and an arm. He resents meeting Violet, haunted by guilt and convinced that her presence would only bring her misery. Violet, ever patient and persistent, seeks him out, yet Gilbert insists on keeping his distance, a barrier born from pain and remorse that tests both of them.

A violent storm seals Violet and Claudia on the island, cutting them off from rescue just as a telegraph arrives with devastating news: Yuris’ condition has worsened. Violet must complete one last task for him—writing a letter for Yuris’ friend Lucas—so Iris Cannary, Haruka Tomatsu, steps in to continue Violet’s work. Benedict Blue, Koki Uchiyama, accompanies Iris to the hospital, where they find Yuris unable to rise from his bed. The doctors and family decide to let Yuris speak to Lucas by telephone, ensuring his final words reach the right place before he passes away. In the wake of his death, Yuris’ parents take turns reading the letters he had asked Violet to compose.

Before Violet and Claudia leave the island, she writes a final letter to Gilbert, pouring into it a depth of feeling that only a long history of connection could contain. Gilbert, buoyed by his brother Dietfried Bougainvillea’s, Hidenobu Kiuchi, unwavering support, chases after Violet as she boards a ship. The moment they finally meet again, Violet leaps into his arms aboard the vessel, and Gilbert confesses his enduring love, vowing to stay by her side from that moment forward. Violet then resigns from the CH Postal Company to begin a new life with Gilbert on the island, choosing a path built on shared silence, restored trust, and a future shaped by their joined letters and promises.

Back in the present, Daisy visits the island to learn more about Violet’s history from the locals, discovering how the writer’s letters touched lives long after they were written. She concludes by writing a letter of her own to her parents, carrying forward Violet’s legacy of turning innermost feelings into words that connect people across time and distance.
