Q1

Why did Gary stand Lizelle up at the elopement?

Gary didn't show up because Adrian confronted him before he could reach the meeting point. Adrian had discovered Lizelle's plan to leave him and directly confronted Gary. During this confrontation, Gary was struck by a car and died before he could meet Lizelle.

Foreshadowing: Earlier scenes show Adrian growing suspicious of Lizelle's behavior and discovering her secret plans.

Q2

How did Gary die in the movie?

Gary died after being struck by a car during a confrontation with Adrian. Adrian had learned that Lizelle planned to leave him for Gary and went to confront Gary directly. In the ensuing argument on the road, Gary was hit by a passing vehicle.

Foreshadowing: Adrian's growing suspicion and his sudden departure from the wedding preparations hint at his intention to intervene.

  • Gary death

Q3

Why did Adrian confront Gary?

Adrian confronted Gary because he discovered that Lizelle intended to leave him for Gary. After Lizelle returned home crying from being stood up, Adrian learned the truth about her plan to elope. Adrian went to find Gary, partly to protect his relationship and partly out of anger, leading to the fatal confrontation.

Foreshadowing: Adrian's knowledge of Gary from treating him as a patient gave him the means to locate him.

  • Adrian
  • Gary
  • confrontation
  • jealousy
  • protection
Q4

Why did Gary date Ysa if he still loved Lizelle?

Gary admitted to Lizelle that he dated Ysa specifically to win her back. He used his relationship with Ysa as a way to get close to Lizelle again, knowing Lizelle would see him with another woman and potentially feel jealous or motivated to reconnect with him.

Foreshadowing: Gary's persistent interest in Lizelle despite being with Ysa hints at his manipulative strategy.

  • Gary
  • Ysa
  • manipulation
  • jealousy
  • winning Lizelle back
Q5

Why did Gary name Lizelle as his sole beneficiary?

Gary named Lizelle as his sole beneficiary because he still loved her despite everything. Even after she chose to return to Adrian, Gary wanted to ensure she would be provided for. This act demonstrates his lingering love for her and perhaps a sense of guilt or final apology for the complicated situation.

Foreshadowing: Gary's consistent devotion to Lizelle throughout the film makes this final act consistent with his character.

  • Gary
  • beneficiary
  • will
  • death
  • love
Q6

Why did Ysa dislike Lizelle from the start?

Ysa disliked Lizelle primarily because Lizelle represented a new woman in her father's life, which likely felt like a replacement or dismissal of her late mother. Additionally, Ysa may have sensed her father's divided attention and blamed Lizelle for disrupting their family dynamic.

  • Lizelle
  • Adrian
  • marriage
  • forgiveness
  • reconciliation
Q8

What was the outcome of Adrian's malpractice lawsuit?

The film doesn't explicitly state the outcome of Adrian's malpractice lawsuit. The lawsuit serves as a plot device to create tension and stress in Adrian and Lizelle's relationship during the middle of the film, but the narrative moves away from this subplot as the love triangle with Gary becomes the central conflict.

Foreshadowing: The lawsuit creates the initial strain that makes Lizelle vulnerable to Gary's attention.

  • malpractice lawsuit
  • Adrian
  • court case
  • professional trouble
Q9

What does the ending scene with Gary's tomb mean?

Lizelle laying flowers at Gary's tomb before leaving with Adrian signifies her acknowledgment of his impact on her life and her willingness to let go of the past. Foreshadowing: Throughout the film, Lizelle struggles between her feelings for Gary and her life with Adrian.
