I Am Kalam

Chotu adopts the name Kalam after watching the Republic Day Parade, where he sees Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam saluting during the march. Inspired by the former President's legacy and his message about education, Chotu begins answering to Kalam as a personal beacon of his dream to become educated and wear a school uniform like the one he imagines Kalam wearing.

Earlier, Chotu is already shown clinging to the dream of wearing a tie and going to school, which makes his adoption of Kalam's name a natural extension of his aspirations.
