How the Toys Saved Christmas

On Epiphany Eve, Befana falls ill and must take a night off. She hires Scarafoni to deliver all the toys to the Italian children, hoping the tradition will still reach them. Scarafoni's own plan, to auction the toys to the highest bidder, lurks behind the arrangement.

Francesco, a young boy, longs for the Freccia Azzurra model as his Epiphany present. He carries the memory of his late father who worked on that train. His wish becomes a personal thread that drives the story.

Burglars Lesto and Scarpa kidnap Francesco and force him to sneak into Befana's shop to help steal all the money. The kidnap plan injects danger into the night and tests Francesco's innocence. Scarafoni remains oblivious to the deeper danger he has created.

Francesco uses the shop's telephone to call the police, who arrest the burglars. Befana quickly realizes Francesco is not involved in the robbery and exonerates him. The boy's bravery and honesty are proven in the aftermath.

Spicciola, the plush dog who longs to be given to Francesco, fights Scarafoni and becomes separated from the group. During the struggle, Spicciola transforms into a real dog. The change deepens the bond between the toys and Francesco.

The next morning, Spicciola finds Francesco and the two form an immediate bond. This friendship strengthens the toys' resolve to reach the children. It also marks a turning point in the group’s journey.

All the toys manage to deliver themselves to the children in their homes, fulfilling their mission. They navigate dangers and avoid Scarafoni's schemes along the way. The deliveries demonstrate their independence and commitment to the good children.

As the deliveries continue, Scarafoni still clings to the money, complicating the mission. The townspeople rush to the toy shop to confront him and demand the return of the funds. The scene sets the stage for a community intervention.

Scarafoni is arrested and the money is recovered, ending his scheme. The community's actions restore the true spirit of Epiphany and reaffirm the toys' mission. The danger is resolved, and the children will receive their gifts.

Befana reveals that her illness was provoked by a light poison given by Scarafoni. She is grateful to Francesco for his integrity and courage and hires him as her new helper. Spicciola joins them as a loyal companion.
