Hot Tub Time Machine

The story begins with Lou Dorchen being hospitalized due to carbon monoxide poisoning. His friends, Adam and Nick, are alerted and come together to support him, suspecting this may have been a suicide attempt given Lou's troubled life.

Adam and Nick reunite and decide to take Lou on a trip to the Kodiak Valley Ski Resort to lift his spirits. They invite Adam's nephew Jacob, who lives in the basement and is a gaming enthusiast, to join them for this nostalgic getaway.

Upon arriving at Kodiak Valley Ski Resort, the group is dismayed to see most shops boarded up and their hotel in terrible condition. Their nostalgic visit takes a disappointing turn as they realize the place has significantly changed since their youth.

In an attempt to relive their youth, the friends have a wild night in the hotel hot tub, fueled by excessive drinking and a questionable Russian energy drink called 'Chernobly.' This reckless mix leads to outrageous consequences, including Lou vomiting on a squirrel the next morning.

Shocked and bewildered, the friends discover that they have somehow traveled back to 1986, inhabiting their youthful bodies. However, Jacob remains unchanged since he was not yet born in that time, marking the beginning of their odd yet nostalgic journey.

A mysterious hot tub repairman appears, issuing a grave warning to the group about the dangers of altering history. He cautions that they must be careful to avoid any significant changes to their past to prevent dire results from the so-called butterfly effect.

To adhere to the repairman's advice, Adam sets out to break up with his girlfriend Jenny. In a bizarre twist, he must get stabbed in the eye with a fork as part of this challenge, remembering how he had handled the situation in their past.

Lou takes on the ski patrol bully, Blaine, as part of his quest to recreate his past experiences. Initially suffering from Blaine's bullying, Lou later seeks him out for a confrontation, where he must confront his fears and insecurities from his youth.

Nick struggles with the moral implications of cheating on his wife as he pursues a fling with a groupie named Tara. This event challenges his character and sets the stage for his personal growth throughout their time travel escapade.

Chaos ensues when Lou's plans to use his foreknowledge of a football game go awry. His attempt to outsmart his past leads to a disastrous chain of events, culminating in unexpected consequences involving the squirrel from the earlier incident.

During a pivotal moment, Jenny unexpectedly takes charge and initiates the breakup with Adam, turning the tides in their relationship. This abrupt decision complicates Adam's intentions and drives the story's tension forward.

As Lou finds purpose and develops deeper connections, he unexpectedly gets involved with Jacob’s drug-addicted mother, Kelly. This twist complicates relationships and highlights Lou's journey towards self-discovery.

In a heartfelt climax, Lou resolves to stay in 1986 to build a meaningful life, while Adam insists on returning to the present with him. Their friendship faces a bittersweet parting, leading to a heartfelt decision amid emotional turmoil.

Adam is thrust back into the present day, awakening alongside Nick and Jacob. They are astonished to find that their lives have transformed drastically as a result of their actions in the past, revealing the power of their shared experiences.

In the final moments, the friends reunite at Lou's mansion, now a prosperous mogul thanks to the creation of 'Lougle.' They celebrate their individual successes and the enriched lives they now lead, deeply grateful for their friendship's influence on their paths.
