Honey Don’t! (2025) – Full Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Read the complete plot breakdown of Honey Don’t! (2025), including all key story events, major twists, and the ending explained in detail. Discover what really happened—and what it all means.

In Bakersfield, California, private investigator Honey O’Donahue, Margaret Qualley, is pulled into a tangled case when she’s called to a fatal car crash by homicide detective Marty Metakawich, Charlie Day. At the scene she immediately recognizes the dead driver as Mia Novotny, Kara Petersen, a potential client who had asked to meet with her that very day. The discovery kicks off a web of threads that pulls Honey further into a world where danger hides in plain sight and loyalty wears thin.

After meeting with Mr. Siegfried, Billy Eichner—who is convinced his boyfriend is cheating—Honey pivots to family, visiting her sister Heidi, Kristen Connolly, and the younger generation, including Corinne, Talia Ryder. MG Falcone, Aubrey Plaza, Honey’s police contact, supplies Mia’s address and Honey speaks with Mia’s parents, learning that Mia had become part of the Four-Way Temple led by Reverend Drew Devlin, Chris Evans. The revelation casts light on a larger, shadowy enterprise that appears to be more than just a simple tragedy.

Unbeknownst to his congregation, Drew Devlin is using his church to move drugs for mysterious traffickers. The tension climaxes when Drew is interrupted during a private moment by his henchman, Shuggie, after one of their drivers overdoses on stolen product. The traffickers’ French liaison Chère, Lera Abova, warns that Mia’s death could draw unwanted attention, but Drew insists he’s not involved in any foul play. The plot thickens as Hector, one of Drew’s dealers, panics when a customer pressures him to pay, leading to a fatal car accident that spirals into a deadly chain of revenge.

As Honey digs deeper, Shuggie kills Hector’s grandmother to tie up loose ends, and Hector, driven by anger, ambushes Drew in a moment of vulnerability—but Drew overpowers him and turns the violence back on the attacker. The case widens as Honey uncovers a grim overlap: Mia’s death is connected to the Temple, and the bodies of Shuggie and Hector’s grandmother are tied to the traffickers’ operation. The tension between personal history and criminal conspiracy becomes personal for Honey, who shares a charged moment with MG after an encounter in a bar, highlighting a fragile bond forged through shared traumas.

Corinne goes missing, sending Honey into another desperate round of questioning and protection. She confronts Corinne’s boyfriend with brutal honesty, while an old man—her and Heidi’s estranged father—reappears, attempting to reconnect. Honey’s fear that Corinne could follow Mia’s path grows as she learns from Marty that Mia was stabbed to death before being placed in her car, and that the disturbing pattern includes the deaths of Shuggie and Hector’s grandmother being linked to the Temple. The truth begins to surface with relentless force.

The fortress of lies finally starts to crumble when Chère takes decisive action, ending her partnership with Drew and murdering him in his bed after a night spent together. Honey witnesses Chère’s departure, while Marty remains cautious about launching a full Temple raid. The truth about MG emerges in a confrontation at Honey’s family home: MG confesses to murdering her father, and Honey is forced to defend herself by using her own service weapon, killing MG and collapsing from the strain.

The aftermath reveals MG as the architect behind a string of killings—two sex workers and Mia among them—staging Mia’s death as a traffic fatality. In the ambulance, Honey and Corinne are rescued, and the case closes with a quiet note of connection: MG’s crimes are laid bare, and the fragile bond between Honey and Corinne lingers. As the city lights pass by at a stoplight, an uneasy, wary flirtation resurfaces between Honey and Chère, hinting that the night’s shadows may still hold sway over their fates.
