Johnny’s dad warns him to question if his friends are true as Johnny endures cruelty toward Miyeko, a Hiroshima bomb survivor staying for surgery. Though resentful at first, Johnny becomes her defender, learning to see beyond her scarred face and arm. Their brief meeting exposes lingering ignorance years after the war, offering a chance for healing.
