Adapted from Hisashi Inoue’s play, the story follows Hiroshima survivor Mitsué (Rié Miyama) over four days in the summer of 1948. The ghost of her father appears after learning she has fallen in love, urging her to start a new life. She stubbornly rejects his warm, humorous pleas, saying, “People were killed in my place; I have no right to be happy.”
