Heli

Heli leads a quiet, modest life with his father, his wife Sabrina, their baby Santiago, and his sister Estela. He works at a car assembly factory, and the family shares a routine with little economic prospect. The atmosphere is calm but strained by an unsettled relationship between Heli and Sabrina.

Estela's relationship with Beto is revealed: he is a cadet older than her, eager to marry and run away. He proposes selling stolen cocaine, which a corrupt general had pulled from a confiscated cache. Estela agrees to hide the drugs in Heli's house until they can be sold.

Heli discovers the affair and confronts Estela, reprimanding her and locking her in her room. He secretly disposes of the cocaine by sinking it into an isolated water pit used for cattle. He hopes to derail the dangerous plan without escalating conflict.

That night, federal police storm Heli's house. Heli's father is killed when he defends them, and Heli and Estela are forcibly taken away while Beto is badly beaten. The violence shatters the family's sense of safety.

The police drive to a secure location and the drug dealers torture Beto—beating him with sticks and burning his testicles. Heli is spared, but Estela is taken away elsewhere, deepening the family's trauma.

After the torture, the dealers hang Beto's body from a pedestrian bridge, killing him and leaving Heli badly hurt at the scene. The brutality signals the depth of the criminal network involved.

Heli crawls back to his home as the local police recover from the incident and attempt to help him locate his father’s body. They later take his testimony, but the authorities suspect him and his father of drug involvement and refuse to offer further protection.

The police project corruption as they treat Heli as a potential criminal rather than a victim. Heli remains frightened and unwilling to sign statements or fully disclose what happened, fearing retaliation and framing.

The trauma erodes Heli's relationship with Sabrina as his behavior becomes erratic. He loses his job at the car factory, compounding the family’s financial and emotional stress.

A news report claims the kidnapped federal policemen have been decapitated. A female detective assigned to the case reveals the file is closed and makes a sexual advance toward Heli, which he initially accepts and then rejects.

Estela returns home traumatized and speechless, pregnant beyond the point where abortion would be legal. Heli and Sabrina comfort her, and Estela draws a map to the location where she was held and raped.

Following the map, Heli goes to the indicated location and kills the man who kept Estela. He returns home, makes love to Sabrina, and Estela sleeps peacefully with her nephew, seeking a fragile sense of closure.
