In 1979 Christchurch, New Zealand, a teenager named Angus spends a two-week period with his father. Drawn to the burgeoning underground post-punk music scene, he finds support from his friend Kirsten as he confronts self-doubt and the disapproval of others. Angus must also grapple with a family tragedy, ultimately finding the courage to perform on stage for the first time and discover his place in the world.
