Pansy Deacon lives in a constant state of anxiety and depression. Her short temper leads her to argue with everyone around her, creating a toxic environment with her family and strangers alike.

Pansy's sister, Chantelle, continuously urges her to visit their mother's grave for the fifth anniversary of her death. Pansy's reluctance not only highlights her anxiety but also the strained relationship she has with her family.

On the day of the anniversary, Pansy and Chantelle visit their mother Pearl's grave. They engage in a heated discussion where Pansy accuses Pearl of favoritism, but Chantelle counters her claims and offers emotional support.

The sisters head to Chantelle's apartment to celebrate Mother's Day with their families. Pansy remains morose and silent during the gathering, feeling disconnected and misunderstood.

During a private moment, Pansy reveals to Chantelle that she feels her family despises her, sharing her feelings of isolation. Chantelle reassures her that she is loved, attempting to bridge the emotional gap.

Moses, Pansy's son, surprises her by gifting her flowers for Mother's Day. This act challenges Pansy's belief that her family does not care about her, leading to a breakdown of tears.

After the celebration, Pansy is anxious and hurriedly puts the flowers into a vase. However, in an act of frustration, Curtley throws the flowers out and closes the patio door, further isolating Pansy.

The following day, Curtley injures his back at work and is unable to help around the house. This incident adds to Pansy's anxiety and showcases the stress within their household.

Curtley sends a coworker to wake Pansy, but she becomes overwhelmed with anxiety upon his entry. As a result, she is unable to leave her bedroom, showing the extent of her mental struggles.

While out on a walk, Moses interacts with a young woman and expresses genuine happiness for the first time. This moment highlights the contrast between his emotional state and Pansy's struggles.

As Pansy remains confined to her bedroom, Curtley is found sobbing silently downstairs. His tears reflect his own sadness and helplessness in the face of Pansy's struggles and his injury.
