Green Lantern

Millions of years before Earth existed, the Guardians of the Universe created the Green Lantern Corps to maintain order across the cosmos. They harnessed the green essence of willpower, dividing the universe into 3,600 sectors, assigning one Green Lantern to each sector.

One of the assigned Green Lanterns, Abin Sur, bravely faced the fear-based entity known as Parallax. After a fierce battle, he managed to confine Parallax to the Lost Sector on the barren planet Ryut, securing peace for a time.

In the present day, Parallax escapes from his imprisonment, unleashing chaos upon the universe. His rampage results in the destruction of two planets and the death of four Green Lanterns, escalating fear throughout the cosmos.

As Parallax's terror spreads to Sector 2814, he confronts Abin Sur once again. In a tragic turn of events, Parallax fatally injures Abin Sur, who crash-lands on Earth, bequeathing his ring to a worthy successor.

Hal Jordan, a skilled test pilot for Ferris Aircraft, faces personal and professional challenges. After losing a key Air Force contract for his company due to his reckless maneuvers, he spirals into despair, haunted by memories of his deceased father.

After Abin Sur's death, Hal Jordan is summoned by the ring to the crash site. He accepts the mantle of Green Lantern, reciting the oath and embracing the new powers awakened within him.

Hal tests his newfound abilities as he confronts muggers, successfully using his power to create a massive green fist. This marks his first significant act as a Green Lantern, signaling his acceptance of the role.

Transported to Oa, the headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps, Hal undergoes rigorous training alongside fellow Lanterns Tomar-Re and Kilowog. However, he faces skepticism from Sinestro, who doubts Hal's capabilities due to his humanity.

Feeling unappreciated and inferior, Hal decides to abandon his role as a Green Lantern and returns to Earth. Despite keeping the ring and lantern, he struggles with the demands and expectations placed upon him.

Meanwhile, scientist Hector Hammond conducts an autopsy on Abin Sur and inadvertently comes into contact with a fragment of Parallax. This grants him telekinesis and telepathy, along with a descent into madness spurred by his resentment.

Driven by his overwhelming rage and jealousy, Hector attempts to kill his father, Senator Robert Hammond, by sabotaging his helicopter during a public event. Hal intervenes at the last moment, saving them from disaster.

As Parallax's presence looms over Earth, Hal's journey leads him back to Oa, where he learns about the origins of Parallax and the Guardians' tragic history. He also discovers Sinestro’s plans to create a yellow power ring driven by fear.

Despite initial rejection from the Corps, Hal rallies their support to defend Earth against Parallax. His determination showcases his growth and strength as a Green Lantern, ready to confront the darkness threatening his home.

In a dramatic battle, Hal finds a way to combat Parallax by luring him towards the Sun. Using the immense gravitational force it generates, Hal successfully obliterates Parallax, albeit losing consciousness in the process.

Following the battle, Hal is lauded by the Green Lantern Corps for his bravery. However, Sinestro, intrigued by the power of fear, dons the yellow power ring, transforming his appearance and foreshadowing future conflicts.
