Grand Piano

Tom arrives at the theater for a comeback, nerves jangling under the spotlight. Norman the conductor reassures him that he will perform well tonight. A folder of sheet music arrives for him, and within he finds the manuscript to La Cinquette, which he immediately discards, setting aside the piece that will haunt him later.

While the audience settles, a note on the sheet music warns: Play one wrong note and you DIE. Tom dismisses it as a prank at first, but more notes follow and a laser-like dot seems to track his every move.

Tom tries to text Wayne in the audience, hoping for a safe, distraction-free line of support. Wayne's phone rings and the moment disrupts the performance, prompting him to leave in embarrassment. Shortly after, the usher—Clem's ally—kills Wayne, and Clem later reveals Wayne's body sprawled across the rafters.

Clem unveils his plan: a flawless performance of La Cinquette will unlock Patrick Godureaux’s fortune, with Clem posing as the locksmith. Tom learns that Emma and Wayne’s safety depend on delivering a perfect rendition. The embedment of a lock in the piano becomes the mechanism for the treasure.

During intermission Tom rushes backstage to recover the crumpled manuscript, only to discover the janitor has destroyed it. He returns to his dressing room and is handed a tablet with the piece, taking feverish notes to memorize. The clock ticks as the danger grows and the plan tightens.

On the stage again, Norman announces the Tempest Sonata, but Tom interrupts and declares he will perform La Cinquette instead. Clem warns Tom to pace himself as he prepares for the demanding piece. The audience responds with excitement to the unexpected turn.

Tom executes La Cinquette with astonishing precision, guiding the piece toward its culmination. He reaches the final note and deliberately misplays it, provoking Clem’s fury. The audience rises for a standing ovation, and Tom realizes he has conquered both the piece and his stage fright.

Emma steps forward to sing an encore, accompanied by Norman. The usher, realizing their victory, attempts to flee but Clem shoots him, ending the immediate danger. Tom overhears the gunfire and hurries offstage to comfort Emma.

Clem pursues Tom to the light fixture catwalk above the stage, threatening him with the fall. Tom braces himself and yanks Clem over the railing, sending them both crashing onto the stage. Clem collides with the piano while Tom survives, telling Emma he may have broken his leg.

The usher’s corpse is found as the theater empties, and Tom realizes the immediate danger is over. The piano is loaded onto a shipping truck, and Tom plays the last four bars of La Cinquette again inside the truck. The internal lock gear turns and a metal key falls to the floor, which Tom stoops to pick up.

The key turns out to be the lock’s key to a safe deposit box containing Patrick Godureaux’s disappeared fortune. The camera lingers on Tom picking up the key, leaving the treasure’s location shrouded in mystery and possibility. The moment hints at a future discovery yet unresolved on screen.

Despite the peril, Tom has conquered his stage fright, realizing he can perform fearlessly under pressure. Emma supports him, and they brace for medical help as their future together appears to open anew. The ending centers on regained confidence and a renewed career path.
