Griffith weaves together the parallel stories of two couples who marry on the same day—one affluent, the other struggling. As years pass, the unemployed poor husband breaks into a house, only to be confronted at gunpoint by the homeowner’s mistress. The house belongs to the wealthy couple, and during the standoff the rich wife uncovers proof that her own husband is involved in a bribery scheme.
