In 1828 Bordeaux, the exiled Spanish master Francisco de Goya dies and is interred in a local cemetery, his body unclaimed even by his son Javier. Decades later, in 1888, Spanish consul Pereyra secures permission to exhume Goya’s remains for repatriation to Spain. When the crypt is opened, the gravediggers uncover a macabre and startling surprise.
