Good Scouts

Donald leads Huey, Dewey, and Louie on a scouting expedition through Yellowstone National Park and acts as their stern scoutmaster. The nephews march in military-style formation and sing 'Polly Wolly Doodle'. They arrive at their campsite and prepare for wilderness lessons.

Donald tries to teach wilderness skills but fails in humorous ways. He attempts to chop down a petrified tree and to pitch a tent with a badly tied knot. The nephews laugh at his ineptitude.

Frustrated, Donald pretends to be injured to teach them a lesson, pouring ketchup over himself. The nephews rush to bandage him from head to toe, and they wrap his eyes with improvised bandages. He ends up blindfolded and unable to see.

Bandaged and blind, Donald wanders around the camp and stumbles into a honey jar. Honey floods over him while the nephews watch in disbelief.

A grizzly bear arrives and scares the nephews away. The bear licks the honey off Donald, and he angrily smacks the animal, thinking the nephews are licking him.

Donald removes the bandages and realizes what happened, then tries to escape. He runs toward safety but falls off a cliff and wedges his butt in a hole.

He reads a sign revealing the hole is the opening of Old Reliable Geyser and that it erupts at 12:00. He checks his watch and confirms it is 12:00.

When the geyser erupts, water shoots Donald into the air, bringing him closer to the bear on the cliff's edge. The blast also sends him on a wild arc toward the precarious position above the bear.

The nephews try to save Donald by plugging the geyser with a long log, but the plan fails. They then switch to three stones, which also fail to stop the eruption.

They roll a large boulder into place to block the geyser, but the eruption only pauses briefly before continuing. The geyser blasts Donald and the boulder up toward the cliff level, where the bear leaps onto the moving rock to pursue him.

The bear chases Donald across the boulder as it rotates on the continuous jet of water. The pursuit carries on into the night with no clear rescue in sight.

By night, the nephews are exhausted and bed down in their tent after their failed rescue attempts. Donald remains in peril on the moving boulder as the chase continues around the geyser.
