Set in the 1970s, lawyer Tom Spader is determined to break what he calls “the colored man’s losing streak.” After winning a high‑profile case that throws him into the spotlight, he relocates his wife and two children from their mixed, lower‑middle‑class hometown to the affluent suburb of Greenwich, Connecticut, hoping the new environment will offer better opportunities.
