Set against the bustling backdrop of the Koyambedu market, the story centers on four young lifters who navigate the cramped lanes and crowded stalls with a mix of grit and camaraderie. Pulli [Kishore DS], Saetu [Sree Raam], Sithappa [Tamizh], and Kuttimani [Murugesh] lift and move vegetable crates for a living, earning their bread by working the market’s maze of shops. They’re cared for by Aachi [Sujatha Sivakumar], a matriarch who treats them like her own sons, letting the boys carry on with their carefree mischief and easy banter as they tease passing schoolgirls and dream of brighter days.

Into this rough-and-tumble world walks Vanmathi [Seetha], nicknamed ATM, a helpful friend who introduces them to Yamini [Chandhini], Aachi’s daughter. The circle of friends grows, and their days feel full of potential and laughter. Yet Aachi senses their lack of identity and urges them to carve out something meaningful that commands respect. The push to prove themselves lands the boys in a risky venture: they decide to start a “mess” in the market, a place where people will naturally gather, mingle, and notice them. Naidu [Madhusudhan Rao], a wealthy and powerful figure who controls the market, lets them use an old godown as a base of operations, free of charge for the moment, with a promise to collect rent later. The venture takes off with surprising speed, turning the four friends into figures of local importance and giving them a sense of identity they’ve yearned for.

As the mess flourishes, trouble arrives in the guise of Naidu’s cousin Mayilu [R. K. Vijaimurugan], who begins using the space for his own late-night pleasures and indulgences. The boys tolerate it at first, deferring to Naidu’s influence, but Mayilu’s behavior quickly crosses lines. One night, Mayilu assaults a woman inside the mess, prompting Sithappa to demand that he leave immediately. Mayilu responds with violence, beating Sithappa and driving him away. The others discover the mess in disarray, and Mayilu, drunk and defiant, remains inside. When they challenge him, Mayilu attacks them, and the boys retaliate, overpowering him and ejecting him from the space.

Naidu learns of the turmoil and is furious. Aachi goes to plead for mercy, but Naidu refuses to forgive and instead holds Aachi captive until the boys are punished. He dispatches a crew of men, along with Mayilu, to beat the boys inside the market, staging the assault before the entire community. The boys defend themselves, and a fierce clash ensues. They manage to push back the attackers, even as Mayilu tries to assault Yamini and Vanmathi. With grit and resourcefulness, the boys turn the tables using improvised weapons from the market, driving Naidu’s men away. The escalation leaves Naidu more determined than ever to assert his dominance.

Desperate to protect their dignity and their shelter, the boys hatch a bold plan. They decide to exact revenge by challenging Naidu directly and resisting his market influence. With Vanmathi’s support, they regroup and reopen the mess on their own terms. Naidu, sensing his grip slipping, plots a brutal counterstrike and corners the boys, sending his men to hunt them down. In a tense reversal, the friends hide, waiting for the right moment to strike back. They capture Mayilu and threaten to release him only if they can force Naidu to acknowledge their identity and autonomy.

A dramatic confrontation follows, and Naidu’s fear of losing the market’s power becomes apparent. The boys confront him at the mess, and a violent standoff ensues. Naidu sleeps unaware of the brewing threat, and the boys seize the moment: they shave his hair, place a coin on his head, and declare his reign over the market finished. The next morning, Naidu wakes to find the symbols of his downfall and, enraged, storms the mess to kill the boys. But the youths overpower him, tying him to a post and threatening to expose him to the world. Naidu pleads for mercy, but the boys insist that a man’s identity and honor matter more than fear and wealth. In a powerful moment of reckoning, Naidu breaks down, acknowledging the need for change.

With forgiveness earned and identity reaffirmed, the four friends continue to run the mess, now with a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility. The film culminates in a quiet but profound message: true identity is something to be fought for, guarded, and earned through courage, integrity, and the willingness to forgive. In the undercurrent of this hard-edged drama, hopeful romantic threads emerge—Sithappa grows closer to Vanmathi, and Pulli’s bond with Yamini hints at new beginnings beyond the market’s walls.
