The film opens with Ashley Ratcliff calling her uncle Jack to pick her up after a movie since her father forgot her. Jack, a detective, rushes to get her, and they head to a diner for a meal, discussing her father Garret, whom they see as a failure in both music and life.

The next day, Ashley contacts Jack again with news that Garret seems to be making an effort to turn his life around after Jack's intervention. This newfound hope is short-lived, as things take a dark turn later that day.

Hours later, Jack receives a frantic call from Ashley and races to her house. Upon arrival, he discovers the horrific scene of a murder-suicide involving Garret, Susan, and, heartbreakingly, Ashley herself, leaving Jack devastated.

Following the tragic events, Jack is consumed by guilt, believing his harsh words to Garret contributed to his family's deaths. He is supported by his partner Bobby but finds it difficult to cope with the loss over the next two weeks.

While still struggling with his emotional turmoil, Jack receives a bizarre phone call from Ashley's phone. Upon inspecting the evidence, he confirms the phone was indeed in the evidence room, leading him to believe he might be communicating with Ashley's spirit.

As Jack investigates further, he is confronted by an Internal Affairs agent who questions him about potential motives for the family's deaths. Jack is shocked and feels the mounting pressure and suspicion from his own department.

Jack continues to receive calls from Ashley, who repeats their last conversation. To his disbelief, he realizes that she is calling him from two weeks in the past, allowing him a chance to warn her of the impending doom.

In the past, Ashley actively looks into her father’s activities as per Jack's instructions. She discovers a name linked to his troubles: 'Georgie,' which Jack learns is tied to a criminal enterprise that may have caused the tragedy.

Jack uses their unique communication to direct Ashley to find her father's day planner, which leads to Georgie's address. As Ashley walks toward Jack’s house, Jack warns her to turn back, unaware of the danger lurking nearby.

Jack is shot by gangsters after he exits his house, but he manages to make it to the police station where he continues communicating with Ashley. In a desperate attempt to save her, he tells her to call the cops for help.

Back in the past, Ashley grows suspicious of Jack's intentions. As she tries to talk to her parents, the dangers surrounding her escalate, culminating in her eventual death as she tries to escape the fate intended for her family.

In the current timeline, Jack arming himself for a confrontation signals a shift in his approach to Ashley's warnings. Armed with the knowledge from their communications, he strategizes to protect her and confront the dark forces at play.

Jack and his partners discover that 'Georgie' is not a singular criminal but connected with corrupt officers within the department. This realization escalates their quest for justice as they try to find Ashley before it's too late.

In a shocking twist, Bobby reveals himself as the murderer of Jack's family, revealing their involvement in the drug trade. Jack finds himself in a life-or-death encounter as they confront these buried secrets.
