After his promotion, Dick appears on the show *Money Life*, where he faces severe criticism from host Sam Samuels and presidential candidate Ralph Nader. They accuse Globodyne of being 'perverters of the American dream', which begins to tarnish Dick's reputation.

As the allegations against Globodyne grow, the company's stock begins to fall sharply. This downfall leads to devastating effects on the employees' pensions, which are tied to the now-devalued Globodyne shares.

At home, Dick's wife Jane decides to resign from her job to devote more time to their son, Billy. However, the mood shifts when Dick reveals the troubling news about Globodyne's financial disaster.

While seeking solace at a local bar, Dick meets Frank Bascombe, Globodyne's former CFO. Frank exposes the corruption of CEO Jack McCallister, revealing that he has absconded with the company's assets.

Dick and Jane, fueled by their anger and the truth revealed by Frank, devise a plan to intercept a $400 million transfer orchestrated by McCallister. Their goal is to substitute the transfer with a forgery.

The plan goes awry when Dick confronts McCallister, making a bitter ultimatum. He shares his intention of having McCallister sign a blank check for Jane to forge, adding another level of risk to their scheme.

As McCallister leaves his mansion, Dick seizes the opportunity to reveal the CEO's fraud before a crowd of reporters and former employees. This leads to a public announcement that $400 million will be allocated to support the failing pensions, bringing justice to the former Globodyne workers.
