Ben Holmes, a blurb writer from New York, celebrates his upcoming wedding at a bachelor party thrown by his best friend Alan. The party takes an unexpected turn when Ben's grandfather suffers a heart attack due to an overzealous stripper.

As Ben prepares to fly to Savannah for his wedding to Bridget, his nerves heighten when Alan misses the flight. Ben boards the plane, only to face his growing anxiety when a bird strikes the engine during takeoff, causing a flame-out and threatening the flight's safety.

After the flight is canceled, Ben teams up with Sarah, a free-spirited drifter, to share a rental car to Savannah. They encounter Vic, another passenger, who agrees to take them both on their journey, setting the stage for unexpected adventures.

Caught in a rainstorm, Ben and Sarah seek shelter at a KMart where they bond over dry clothes and life decisions. Here, they discuss Ben's wedding jitters and Sarah shares her past, revealing her complicated relationship history.

In a twist, Sarah asks Ben to impersonate her estranged husband to finalize the sale of her bagel shop. As they prepare to convince buyers of their fake relationship, Ben increasingly finds himself drawn to Sarah.

While at a hotel, an awkward encounter causes Ben to confront Sarah about their growing bond and the lies they’ve told. Their emotions heighten, leading to a kiss, but Ben's guilt pushes him to step back from the moment.
