Follow That Goblin

Scott and Abby tour the haunted house on its final night at the carnival. They learn from I.M. Ruthless, the foreman, that the building will be torn down to make way for a drive-thru video arcade, and the ticket lady confirms the demolition plan.

The siblings board the dark ride's train and begin their tour, passing animatronic monsters, ghosts, and bats as they travel through Frog Farm and The Bat's Cave. The ride creates a sense of danger as the house fades around them.

Inside The Goblin's Lair they meet Gerbert, a goblin who can't scare anyone. After Gerbert falls backward out of a window, Abby helps him up, and they realize their train has left them behind, trapping them in the mansion.

Scott, Abby, and Gerbert learn that the haunted house will be demolished at midnight to make room for the arcade. They also hear that Esmerelda the witch is outside and that the Halloween Ball is tonight. They realize time is running out to save the place.

The trio wanders and accidentally goes through a revolving bookshelf, tumbling into a giant paper trick-or-treat bag. There they meet M.G. Pumpkin, who hints that Esmerelda is outside and that the Halloween Ball awaits.

M.G. Pumpkin explains that Esmerelda has been outside all along and that the Halloween Ball is the night’s big event. He warns them to keep moving and then disappears, leaving the others with more questions.

Scott encounters The Purple Glop, a blob-like monster who offers junk food and a small TV to hypnotize him. The Glop distracts Scott and lures him toward Esmerelda’s path, away from his sister and friends.

Abby and Gerbert are imprisoned while Scott is away. Gerbert blames himself for not scaring anyone, but Abby reassures him with the help of cute monsters who encourage him to be himself.

Abby, aided by friendly little monsters, sings about the joys of Gerbert being himself. The song helps boost his confidence and sparks the first spark of genuine scariness in him.

With renewed confidence, Gerbert embraces his scarier side and joins Abby in their quest to rescue Scott. He proves he can frighten the other monsters enough to help save the haunted house.

Esmerelda uses her black-and-white magic to turn Scott into a frog, but he escapes her spell and reunites with Abby and Gerbert.

The trio reaches the Halloween Ball where Gerbert is nominated as 'The Scariest Monster' and Esmerelda teleports in to turn the event against them. I.M. Ruthless and his crew start tearing down the haunted house outside.

Gerbert rallies the monsters and ghosts to defend the haunted house, scaring the wrecking crew away. The most frightened opponent flees as Gerbert rides a jackhammer-pogo stick in triumph.

Esmerelda restores Scott to his human form as the sun rises and the haunted house closes for the day. Scott, Abby, and Gerbert bid farewell as they head home.

Before the end credits, Frankie the Frankenstein's monster introduces the lineup of monsters including Gerbert as the star, foreshadowing more adventures. Esmerelda sings 'You Can Be What You Wanna Be' during the credits.
