In a Cinderella-like setup, Joe Joe Besser finds himself living under the guardianship of his aunt and two indolent cousins, Moe Moe Howard and Larry Larry Fine. On a camping trip, he unintentionally photographs a paper plate fluttering high in the wind, and the image is quickly misread as a genuine unidentified flying object. Seizing the moment, Moe and Larry claim the credit for the photograph, elevating themselves to fame and leaving Joe in a subservient role that he did not seek or deserve.

Their success proves hollow once government authorities debunk the supposed UFO, exposing the hoax and resulting in Moe and Larry being arrested. Infuriated by Joe’s unwitting role in their downfall, the aunt ejects him from the home. With nowhere else to turn, Joe embarks on a solitary camping excursion, where he encounters authentic extraterrestrials from Planet Zircon, a revelation that shifts the balance of his fate.

In a surprising turn of events, Joe is granted the chance to photograph the real aliens, an opportunity that could carry significant consequences for his life and legacy. Back in the human world, Moe and Larry are released temporarily on probation and must repay the government for their fraudulent scheme, a punishment that lingers as a reminder of their earlier deception.

When Joe returns with evidence of his extraordinary encounter, his claims are met with doubt and even hostility from his skeptical relatives. Undeterred, Joe defends himself and, in a tense moment, renders Moe, Larry, and their elderly relative unconscious. The nation soon recognizes Joe as a true pioneer, celebrating his achievement with a ticker-tape parade alongside his alien companions.
