Ma Flodder and the Flodder family continue to shake up their Dutch town of Zonnedael, where years of rowdy, antisocial behavior have worn on their neighbors. Ma Flodder clashes with the surrounding residents on a regular basis, while her sons — notably Kees Flodder — and their brother Johnnie pull in money through petty crime after relying on welfare. The family’s dynamic is chaotic: Kees’ flirtatious antics, the youngest children Toet and Henkie stirring trouble around the neighborhood, and even the old grandpa getting pulled into the mischief. Their rabid, loud dog Whisky rounds out the disorder, making quiet evenings a rarity in the area.

As the town gears up for the 25th anniversary celebrations, the organizers become increasingly desperate to keep the Flodders from ruining the festivities. They recruit every trick they can think of to remove them, including using their own daughter Mirjam to spy on the family’s liaison with Sjakie van Kooten — the civil servant who assists the Flodders on behalf of the government. It becomes clear that there are official terms binding the Flodders to Zonnedael, such as a ban on further criminal activity and any expansion of the family, and the festival committee’s chair, Van Brandwijk, seizes on those rules to push them out.

Amid the pressure, Ma Flodder enters a new romance with a homeless-looking man, a development that becomes a thorn in the committee’s plan. The organizers hatch a series of schemes to trap the Flodders: first they try to frame them for stealing a car by staging a scenario in which a nephew ferries a car to the Flodder residence and calls the police. The plan backfires when Kees Flodder spots the car, drives it, and nearly gets caught before cleverly parking at another residence, making it look as if the theft never happened.

Then the plot shifts to a supposed crime of prostitution involving Kees Flodder. A call promises a role in an adult movie, and the same nephew is dispatched to fetch her but drops her off in a red‑light district instead. Van Brandwijk waits with a video camera to capture incriminating footage, but the scheme collapses when the man offering the ride turns out to be the festival committee’s accountant, whom they clearly don’t want discredited.

A third plan targets the idea of family expansion. The committee tracks down a man claimed to be a potential father figure and promises to help him “clean up” his criminal past if he moves in with the Flodders. The illusion of wealth is built around the man’s supposed fortune, which provokes a warm welcome from Johnnie. Yet Ma Flodder rejects him, insisting she will not see the man again, and immediately declares her engagement to the homeless man. This turn of events unexpectedly benefits Van Brandwijk’s broader strategy.

Meanwhile, Sjakie van Kooten learns Mirjam’s true agenda and tries to halt the planned marriage, but Ma Flodder presses ahead with her plans anyway. The wedding reaches a turning point when it becomes apparent that the “homeless” partner has two children protesting the union. It is soon revealed that the man is not actually homeless, but a billionaire, a revelation that leaves Ma Flodder feeling betrayed and she ends the engagement on the spot.

In the ensuing turmoil, Sjakie forgets to arrange rental payments on the Flodder house, triggering the threat of eviction. The Flodders rally their friends for a massive confrontation with the neighborhood and the police. Sjakie arrives, announcing that eviction will not proceed until the house is sold, and he arranges a subsidy to bid on the property on behalf of the city council.

At the public auction, Van Brandwijk’s desperate bid to outpace Sjakie’s known influence fuels tensions among the festival committee members, who have grown weary of his relentless campaign to eject the Flodders. In the end, the house goes to Ma Flodder’s former fiancé, who then returns it to the family, effectively removing any legal path to eviction.

With the Flodders celebrating their victory, a new plot twist unfolds as Van Brandwijk is expelled from the committee. In a final act of retaliation, he steals a fuel truck and drives it toward the Flodder home, only to crash into grandpa’s wheelchair—an event that reveals the grandpa can walk after all and escapes just in time. The crash also sets off a chain reaction that ignites the town’s decorations for the anniversary, causing widespread fires that burn everything in town except the Flodder residence, which had not been decorated for the celebration. The night ends with the Flodders (and Sjakie, who has become involved with Mirjam) reveling in their victory, even as the town’s festival legacy burns behind them.
