Pili, an enthusiastic geocaching aficionado, celebrates her victory in a competition that grants her a summer camp scholarship in the Catskills. The excitement fills her with hope for a memorable summer.

The siblings' lives take a drastic turn when their mother, Leilani, informs them about moving to Oahu. This decision is driven by their father's worsening health and mounting financial burdens, leaving Pili feeling uprooted and anxious.

In search of comfort, Pili finds an old diary in her grandfather's art studio, which is set in an abandoned bus. The diary, filled with secrets and adventures, becomes a source of fascination as she escapes her current reality.

While sneaking off the bus to read the diary, Pili meets Casper, a local boy who becomes her unexpected ally. Their instant camaraderie brings a glimmer of hope to Pili's lonely adjustment to life in Oahu.
