As the first ice age slowly fades, a caveman couple experiences a massive earthquake that devastates their cave. This catastrophic event buries them beneath the collapsing structure, seemingly marking the end of their prehistoric lives.

Fast forward to 1992, where we meet Dave Morgan, a hapless teenager struggling with social insecurity. Living in Encino, he desires acceptance and reminisces about his childhood love, Robyn Sweeney, who is now dating a popular classmate.

While digging in his garage for a swimming pool, Dave uncovers an enormous block of ice. Unbeknownst to him, this block encapsulates a frozen caveman, setting off a chain of bizarre events.

Upon returning home with his friend Stoney, Dave finds their house in disarray, filled with murals and a smoke alarm beeping. They soon encounter Link, the frozen caveman who begins to panic as he tries to start a fire.

Dave and Stoney take on the responsibility of teaching Link about life in the 20th century. They craft a story to convince Dave's family that Link is an Estonian exchange student, allowing him to enroll in school.

With Link's surprising antics and athletic prowess, Dave's social status skyrockets. This newfound popularity enables him to get closer to Robyn, igniting jealousy in her boyfriend, Matt.

The tension between Matt and Link escalates at a skating rink, where confrontations occur. The rivalry ignites deeper conflicts, leading to emotional hurdles for Dave as he struggles to maintain his friendship with Link.
