Shezad, a refugee, sells roses at night while seeking work in Hamburg. He works as a dishwasher and soup cook in a Chinese restaurant, where waiter Xiao shares his dream of opening a place. When janitor Herder leaves, Shezad takes his side job, gets money by illegal means, and they open a restaurant in East Berlin, but opening day goes awry.
