Dr. Jerkyl’s Hide

Alfie and Chester walk down the street while Chester asks what they should do next. Alfie expresses interest when the idea of chasing a cat comes up.

They come across Sylvester the Cat, and he quickly realizes he’s being chased by the dogs. He panics and bolts away, fleeing toward a building named after Dr. Jerkyl and Mr. Hyde to hide from the hounds. Inside, he hopes to vanish from view.

Inside the Dr. Jerkyl and Mr. Hyde place, Sylvester accidentally drinks the formula, mistaking it for soda. The potion mutates him into a large, grotesque Mr. Hyde version of the cat.

Alfie enters the place and is promptly terrorized by the Hyde-cat. Chester arrives to check out the scene, and Sylvester reverts back to his normal form.

Chester urges Alfie to press on with the chase. Sylvester hides inside a footlocker, and when Alfie coaxes him out, he re-emerges as Hyde and, appearing formidable, seems to fall to pieces as he leaves the room.

As Sylvester moves deeper into the building, Alfie panics and runs; Chester, with his back turned, remains unaware that Sylvester has reverted to normal.

Sylvester tries to scare Chester away, but Chester defeats him and throws him aside. The display shows Chester’s strength and foils the cat’s threat.

Chester forces Alfie to go back inside at gunpoint to confront the cat again. He then locks the door, trapping Sylvester inside and keeping him from escaping.

Sylvester escapes through the window while Alfie pleads for release. Alfie then fakes a fight to distract Chester and continues his ruse.

Alfie smashes glass vessels and drops the formula-bearing bottle, which breaks and showers droplets onto a nearby fly. The formula takes effect instantly, mutating the fly into a monstrous creature that attacks Alfie.

The fly monster thrashes Alfie, throwing him out of the room, and slams the door in disgust at his cowardice. Chester scolds Alfie, calling him yellow.

The next day, Chester and Alfie walk down the street, with Chester wearing Alfie's hat. Alfie keeps asking what they should do today and earns a slap in the face.

In a final aside, Alfie breaks the fourth wall and tells the audience that Chester is brave and strong, presenting him as his own hero. The moment leaves the audience with Alfie’s humorous, self-aware ending.
