Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

In 19th-century Providence County, Lord Emerson Blackwood succumbs to madness and murders his housekeeper in the basement of Blackwood Manor. Overcome with guilt and fear, he attempts to appease the unearthly beings haunting his home by offering his and the housekeeper's teeth to the mysterious creatures living in an ash pit.

Despite his offerings, the otherworldly beings reject Blackwood's teeth and instead demand the teeth of children. As Blackwood begs for the return of his kidnapped son, he is tragically consumed by the same creatures he tried to appease.

Fast forward to the present day, 8-year-old Sally Hurst arrives in Rhode Island to live with her father Alex and his girlfriend Kim. They are in the process of restoring Blackwood Manor for sale, but Sally struggles with the upheaval from her life and the medication prescribed to her.

Sally's nightlight emits a haunting melody, awakening the malevolent creatures from their slumber. The next day, Sally hears the creatures calling her name, which sets off a chain of events that reveals the dark history of the manor.

Curiosity leads Sally to discover a sealed fireplace covered in ancient runes that warn her to be afraid. Ignoring the warning, she opens it and finds one of the housekeeper's lost teeth, stirring the malevolent creatures into action.

After Sally unearths the tooth, the creatures express their sinister nature by stealing Alex's razor and raggedly tearing apart Kim's clothing. This marks the beginning of their frightening manipulation over the family members.

Sally attempts to confront the creatures in the basement, but she is stopped by Mr. Harris, a manor worker who tries to seal the fireplace. Unfortunately, the creatures retaliate violently, resulting in Mr. Harris being hospitalized.

In the hospital, Kim learns from Mr. Harris that the solution to their plight lies within Lord Blackwood's unpublished artwork at the local library. This artwork illustrates the frightening creatures they are facing, hinting at their connection to Blackwood.

Kim uncovers a previously unseen mural at the library that depicts Blackwood's son being captured by the creatures resembling tooth fairies. This revelation highlights the historical connection between the creatures and Lord Blackwood's family.

During a terrifying encounter, Sally uses her camera flash to exploit the creatures' fear of light. This brave act allows her to fend off the creatures, and she even manages to vanquish one in the heat of the confrontation.

As Alex and Kim try to escape Blackwood Manor with Sally, they fall victim to an ambush set by the creatures. After being rendered unconscious, the family faces dire consequences as the creatures enact their sinister plan.

When Sally regains consciousness, she finds herself bound, and the creatures prepare to drag her to the basement for transformation into one of their own. The tension escalates when Kim, despite her injuries, miraculously awakens to help her.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Kim manages to free Sally but is tragically ensnared and pulled into the fireplace by the creatures. This moment marks a devastating loss for Sally, who is left facing the creatures alone.

Filled with grief and rage, Sally confronts the creature that was once Lord Blackwood, ultimately crushing it in a pivotal moment. This act symbolizes her struggle against the evil that has taken her loved ones.

In the aftermath, Alex and Sally return to the abandoned Blackwood Manor to leave behind a heartfelt drawing of Kim. As they leave, the drawing is swept away, indicating that Kim has been transformed, and the creatures are planning their next move.
