Several TV satellites launched by the Electric Wave Laboratory go missing over Japan, and investigators later discover they collided with unidentified protoplasmic space cells. The cells appear as jellyfish-like entities of unknown origin. This anomaly sets off a chain of events that pulls investigators into a strange new threat.

Inspector Komai tracks the unexplained disappearances of diamonds across the globe and narrows the case to Dr. Munakata. He discovers Mark Jackson in Munakata's home, but is knocked out as the gangsters take Jackson away for questioning. The episode marks the first link between the space anomaly and human crime.
