Dinoshark

A piece of Antarctic ice calves into the sea, foreshadowing a deadly predator. The splash and aftermath hint at a hidden danger lurking in cold waters. This distant event sets up the dinoshark as a looming menace for years to come.

Three years after the Antarctic ice fall, a dinoshark attacks and kills a scuba diver in a split second. The creature is described as incredibly fast and capable of leaping like a dolphin. This early incident signals the scale of the threat that will surface in the resort town.

Trace McGraw arrives by taxi in Puerto Vallarta, already running late. His friend lends him a ship, but Trace discovers his papers aren’t in order and he tries to bribe with a necklace. Calderón is warned to be wary of Trace, foreshadowing future trouble.

A surfer is eaten by the dinoshark in a split second, underscoring the creature’s speed and appetite. Poor weather and rough seas force authorities to halt the search. Stacy Ramos reports the incident, spreading fear through the town.

Trace visits Pedro and reconnects with Carol Brubaker, Rita Valdés and Víctor. He explains that his past work wasn’t glamorous and he’s chasing a fortune, though Pedro warns there may be none in snorkeling. The group’s dynamic hints at personal stakes for Trace.

Rita swims alone in the gray, cold water when the dinoshark closes in. Rescue patrol arrives too late to save her, and her body is found later on a beach. The loss deepens the crisis and unsettles the group.

Carol Brubaker, a Princeton-educated biology major, moves to Mexico to help run a resort and study climate change. She learns of Rita’s death and contemplates her own future there. She also tries to reach Rita by phone, but the line is already dead.

Carol leads a pool-side training session for a group of resort ladies. During practice, Janelle fouls another participant and Carol admonishes her to keep her temper in check. The training continues as danger remains present outside the water.

Lois is thrown into the water by Steve Loggins, a wealthy man trying to impress her. The dinoshark claims Lois, and later takes Loggins when he goes to help. The pattern of deadly attacks intensifies and unsettles everyone nearby.

Carol and Trace find an emergency beacon on a boat, and police reveal a vessel disappeared far away in Alaska. Dr. Frank Reeves is contacted to analyze the beacon and potentially obtain a genetic profile of the monster. The discovery broadens the scope of the investigation.

Calderón is mobilized to hunt the beast, escalating the confrontation. The shark kills several of Calderón’s men and a helicopter crashes, escalating the danger. Trace demands a bigger rescue helicopter to continue the pursuit.

Trace and Carol join Eddie on a rescue mission as the shark attacks boats and people. Trace throws a grenade to injure the creature and Carol lands a precise harpoon shot to the eye, finally killing the dinoshark. Trace, Carol, and Eddie survive the ordeal.

Another piece of ice falls from a glacier, this time packed with dinoshark babies that immediately swim. The film ends on a note that the predator threat may continue in the future. The closing image hints at an ongoing danger beyond the immediate story.
