Appu and Maya are childhood sweethearts, and their families have already arranged their marriage. Maya’s father belongs to a branch of the local royal family, and he treats Appu as his own son, a closeness that stirs jealousy in Maya’s uncle. But Maya’s life takes a dramatic turn when her horoscope matches the qualities the royal family has been seeking, revealing that she is the heir to her father’s main royal line. The Maharaja proposes to adopt her as the heir princess to ensure the lineage continues, a plan driven by greed and status that puts Appu in jeopardy as a potential obstacle. His uncle fans Maya’s doubts about Appu, pushing her to see him as an obstacle to the royal succession.

To win her back, Appu, with his best friend Mani, tries to present himself as Veerandra Varma, the unseen nephew of the king, claiming to be the son of the king’s estranged sister, Padmini. The real Veerandra Varma arrives at the palace, a spoiled rogue from Delhi known as the Dilliwala Rajakumaran, intent on stealing the crown, adding a dangerous layer of intrigue to the already tense royal court.

Appu, determined to prove his innocence and his love for Maya, becomes entangled in a web of deception, danger, and familial pressure. The family priest, prompted by the king’s sister [Padmini], helps both to escape and halts the Padiyettam ceremonies halfway, shifting the balance of loyalty and truth within the palace. In a public confrontation, Appu speaks plainly about his innocence and his genuine love for Maya, challenging the royal schemes that seek to separate them.

The king, moved by Appu’s steadfast devotion, offers a stark choice: should Maya marry him as an ordinary girl or as a princess without any restrictions? The story culminates in a bold, ceremonial moment as Maya completes the Padiyettam ceremony and sits on the throne, with Appu proudly crowning her as his princess, affirming a love that endured through trials, schemes, and royal expectations.
