Dhanam

Sivasankaran Nair is a young, aspiring medical representative who lives with his mother and sister. His home and other assets are mortgaged due to his deceased father, pushing him to dream of earning more to repay loans and build a bigger house. The constant financial pressure frames his every choice at home and in the workplace.

Siva and his close friend Abu agree to a late-night assignment to transport a dead body for extra cash. They justify the risk as a shortcut to financial relief, even as they sense the moral tension of the task. The decision sets them on a path filled with danger and unforeseen consequences.

On their return trip, the taxi breaks down near a beach, forcing them to spend the night inside the car. The isolated setting heightens their unease and primes the tension of what’s to come. They decide to stay on the beach rather than risk driving further.

Siva dreams that the corpse comes alive and asks him for a match. The surreal moment unsettles him and foreshadows the strange turn their night will take. The dream blurs the line between fear and superstition in the story.

While listening in on a nearby exchange, they overhear smugglers discussing why their delivery failed. Seizing a chance for a reward, they decide to tip off the Customs department. The plan introduces a new layer of danger into their already precarious situation.

The Customs department arrests the smugglers red-handed, earning the informant a reward of 20 lakhs. The money seems like a lifeline but it also intensifies the smugglers’ vendetta against Siva and Abu. The sudden fortune increases the odds of a deadly chase.

Smuggler Stephen learns who tipped off the authorities and resolves to kill the informant. He and his henchmen prepare to track down Siva and Abu to recover the money and silence the source. The plan sets a dark, relentless pursuit in motion.

Seeking safety, Siva and Abu stash the money in a hotel before depositing it. Stephen’s men arrive, and a tense confrontation erupts. Siva fights through the danger, seizes the money, and escapes into the night.

The pursuit continues as Stephen’s men close in. In a desperate move, Siva runs with the money toward cover, and the altercation ends with shots fired as he jumps off a bridge into a river. The chase leaves him wounded but still determined.

Siva resurfaces at the upper balcony of Rajappan's home, where Thankam hides him, feeds him, and helps remove the bullet. Her compassion becomes a turning point, shifting his view from money to the value of life. He shares his ordeal with Thankam and the reliance on human kindness.

Stephen questions Abu about Siva's whereabouts, but Abu refuses to divulge any information. In retaliation, Stephen murders Abu, intensifying the sense that there is no turning back for Siva and the gang. The loss marks a brutal escalation in the pursuit.

On the way to the railway station, Siva discovers Abu's taxi carrying his dead body. Stephen and his allies ambush him, but Siva retaliates and kills Stephen. The film ends with Siva cradling his friend's corpse and the open briefcase of money fluttering in the wind, a somber mix of victory and loss.
