Set in 15th‑century Berchtesgaden, the film follows a bitter clash between mountain peasants who have tended milk cows on communal pastures and the local bailiff who seeks to seize the land for himself. Each side wields a ducal decree that backs the opposite claim, fueling a volatile struggle for authority and survival as the community’s future hangs in the balance.
