Demirkırat: Chief traces the 23‑year struggle that ushered Turkey’s shift from single‑party rule to a multi‑party democracy. After the Republic’s founding, three attempts were made: the 1924 Progressive Republican Party, outlawed after six months amid arrests and death sentences; the 1930 Free Party, which survived only 97 days; and finally the 1946 Democrat Party, which finally ended one‑party dominance for good.
