Dedee works as a prostitute in Monsieur René’s night club on the harbour of Antwerp, under the control of her pimp Marco. Dissatisfied with her routine, she encounters Francesco, an Italian sailor, and they fall in love. Their passionate bond awakens Dedee’s hope of escaping the monotony of her daily life.
